On May 2021, the EU Cloud Compliance Summit tookplaceto celebrate the approval of the EU Cloud Code of Conduct and the accreditation of SCOPE Europe as its dedicated monitoring body. The event gathered an outstanding list of paticipants and discussed the progress made towards trust and compliance assurance for European cloud users and the whole cloud computing industry.
The panels and keynote speeches throughout the Summit gave the audience an opportunity to take stock of the years of collaboration between the European Commission, data protection authorities and the cloud computing community.
The morning's General Session was opened by Agnieszka Bruyere, Vice-President, IBM Cloud, IBM EMEA, and followed by keynote speeches from Former Vice President of the European Commission Neelie Kroes, Belgian Secretary of State for Digitisation Mathieu Michel, David Stevens, Chairman of the Belgian Data Protection Authority, and Pearse O'Donohue, Director for the Future Networks Directorate, DG CONNECT, European Commission.
Following video statements from members of the EU Cloud Code of Conduct, Samuel Stolton, specialist European technology journalist, moderated two highly insightful panels bringing together many of the key stakeholders behind the approval of the Code as well as the accreditation of SCOPE Europe.
Finally, the afternoon workshops gathered several experts to discuss some of the major issues concerning the cloud industry and included substantial Q&A sessions.
