SCOPE Europe at Bitkom's Privacy Conference 2026

SCOPE EuropeEU Cloud CoCNews

SCOPE Europe is pleased to announce its participation in the upcoming bitkom Privacy Conference 2026, taking place virtually on 30 September. The conference provides a platform to exchange on key developments shaping data protection in Europe and beyond.

SCOPE Europe’s Managing Director, Gabriela Mercuri, will join the panel “Collaborative Enforcement of Cross-Border Data Protection Certifications and Codes of Conduct”  alongside Alain Herrmann, Commissioner at the Luxembourg National Commission for Data Protection (CNPD), and Prof. Dr. Sebastian Lins, Professor for Information Systems at the University of Kassel. The session will be moderated by Elena Kouremenou, Policy Officer for Data Privacy at Bitkom.

The discussion will explore the role of data protection certifications and codes of conduct in a cross-border context, bringing together different perspectives on their practical implementation and oversight. Panellists will reflect on enforcement priorities and experiences, the role of supervisory authorities in fostering greater coherence and legal certainty, and the evolving regulatory landscape in light of the GDPR Omnibus.

As the regulatory environment continues to evolve, practical compliance mechanisms and cooperation between stakeholders remain essential to supporting consistent GDPR implementation across borders. We look forward to contributing SCOPE Europe’s perspective as a Monitoring Body and exchanging insights on the future development of these important compliance tools.

Date: 30 September 2026
Time: 14:30–15:00 CEST
Format: Virtual

The session will be available free of charge via livestream. Registration is now open via the Privacy Conference website:
