The EU Cloud CoC General Assembly, alongside SCOPE Europe as the Code’s Secretariat and Monitoring Body, is thrilled to reach this milestone while witnessing the continuous growth, impact, and dissemination of this lighthouse initiative.
From the very beginning, the EU Cloud CoC aimed to bridge the gap between GDPR principles and practical implementation across cloud environments. Four years on, this mission has translated into tangible results: over 1,700 services have declared adherence to the Code, encompassing providers of all sizes and service layers, from IaaS and PaaS to SaaS.
This rapid growth reflects the strong trust placed in the Code by service providers and users alike, as well as its ability to support consistent, robust, and verifiable compliance. By creating a shared framework based on GDPR obligations, the Code helps ease compliance burdens while enhancing legal certainty — key drivers in today’s evolving digital landscape.
In line with its commitment to continuous development, the Code’s General Assembly, together with SCOPE Europe, is also advancing new modules to respond to emerging challenges. One of those is the Third Country Transfers Module, currently in development, which will provide structured, Article 46-compliant safeguards for international data transfers.
The Code’s growth is not just in numbers—but in relevance. As debates around AI, data governance, and digital sovereignty continue to evolve, the EU Cloud CoC remains a leading example of a scalable, co-regulatory solution rooted in collaboration and accountability.
We take this opportunity to thank all the stakeholders—members, partners, and the broader community—who have contributed to this remarkable journey and whose significant contributions were indispensable to the Code’s success. The EU Cloud CoC is an ever-evolving tool, and we eagerly anticipate the opportunities and advancements of the upcoming year.
